Book WIP and poll by Artsammich Book WIP and poll by Artsammich
I have a question for you folks who watch me.

I want to write a book on basically everything I know about art and design. Unfortunately that's a lot of work and will probably take 5-10 years to develop in my spare time.

Someone suggested I should set up an online periodical and use that to write and develop images for the book, using subscriptions to fund the process. If income is right I can drop my freelance projects and possibly cut down the time necessary to 1-2 years instead.

So here's the question. How much would you be willing to pay PER YEAR (yearly subscription seems easiest) to get weekly inside access to my thoughts, ideas, and development processes? This would include things like the image above in their entirety with explanation, painting and design tips, and so forth.

Please be honest, even if the amount is $0, because your answers will help me know whether it will be worth it to set such a thing up. And see if you can get your friends to comment also so I have a wide sampling.

Thank you very much!

I'd pay about 25 per year, maybe more. This post is 4 years old but if you ever get that book going, I want it.

$10-$15 a month would be nice, im a struggling noob so a high price would not help.

Did you ever make that website because I would definitely be interested in signing up :)

No, not yet. I'm still working on the book, I just haven't yet figured out the best way to spread the bits of info yet.
You can always follow my blog until then, that's where I do most of my tutorial/art discussion stuff right now. artsammich.blogspot.com

I feel like I would pay anywhere between 40 to 60 dollars for such a book, maybe more depending on how much info is in it~ You have a lot of useful information, and as I've seen mentioned before, having it in a book format to hold with you when you travel or internet isn't available is a great thing. I'm definitely interested~ c:

Or maybe you could do some periodical online tutorials until it is half way done or even more than half, and finish the rest of your tutorials, then compile all the tutorials and send them to be to the publisher and I'd like to buy a book full of your complete tutorials teeheee.. :D

What about Kickstarter?

I've considered Kickstarter, but the problem is that I still have to create the art for the book and I'd have to make a _ton_ of profit to quit my day job and have more time to do it. Kickstarter only means a lot of people are angry when I can't deliver the book on time.
